At ApexaQLA Suisse, we believe in intensive therapy models that push the boundaries of traditional therapy to unlock a child's full potential. Our specialized approach is designed to achieve significant progress in neurological, sensory and motor development through focused, high-frequency and structured programs. Every child is unique, and our tailored interventions help to specifically address individual strengths and challenges.

Our programs integrate cutting-edge therapy methods and advanced rehabilitation tools to ensure each child receives the most effective treatment for their specific needs. With an interdisciplinary team of experienced therapists, we focus on maximizing mobility, strength, sensory integration and cognitive development through innovative and evidence-based approaches.

We take a family-centered approach that actively involves caregivers in the therapy process to ensure progress beyond the sessions. Our goal is not only to help children reach new milestones faster, but also to equip families with knowledge and strategies to support their children's ongoing development. Based on scientifically sound methods and with a clear focus on results, we offer a path to greater independence, self-confidence and success for every child. Our intensive programs help children make new progress faster than in traditional therapy approaches.

Each plan is individually tailored to the child's needs and goals and integrates the principles of family-centered care (FCC) and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF-Y).

Our approach: Individual, intensive and structured

Every therapy begins with a comprehensive initial examination (assessment), in which our interdisciplinary team works with the parents to determine the child's current developmental stage. Based on this analysis, we develop a customized therapy plan that is tailored to the child's individual needs and potential.

Our experienced therapists work in a motivating and supportive environment and specifically challenge the child to achieve the best possible progress. We set clear goals and work towards them in a structured manner. We actively involve the family in the entire therapy process in order to sustainably support progress in everyday life.

Intensive Therapy Model (IMOT)

A structured, high-frequency rehabilitation program used worldwide to treat cerebral palsy, neurological disorders and motor development delays. After a comprehensive initial assessment, our therapists develop an individual therapy plan that takes into account the duration, intensity and methods used.

What does the program and schedule look like?

Our intensive model of therapy (IMOT) includes 2-6 hours of therapy per day, up to 5-6 days per week, for up to four months. The focus is on:

✅Strengthening and conditioning

✅Reduction of unwanted reflexes

✅Teaching new and improved movement patterns through correct alignment and repetition

✅Increase endurance, balance and functional independence

A key feature of our intensive physical therapy program is targeted exercise preparation. The Universal Exercise Unit (Spidercage) is used to improve strength, endurance and balance with reduced support.

The duration and intensity of each intensive program vary depending on the child's diagnosis, age, resilience and individual strengths. Our therapists will help you determine the optimal program for your child.

How physiotherapy can support your child

Physiotherapy can improve your child’s motor skills in several areas:

✅Posture: Improve body alignment in different positions for more stability and healthy posture.

✅Muscle tone: Regulate the natural muscle resistance – reduce stiffness when tone is increased or strengthen muscles when tone is reduced.

✅Range of Motion: Increasing the range of motion of the joints so that they can bend and stretch better.

✅Strength: Strengthening the muscles to safely perform movements against gravity.

✅Balance: Promoting the ability to maintain balance (e.g. through corrective reactions) and avoid falls (protective reactions).

✅Reflexes: Support automatic movement patterns, especially in infancy, such as grasping reflex, positive support reflex or asymmetric tonic neck reflex.

Through targeted exercises and therapeutic methods, physiotherapy helps your child to optimize movement skills and achieve more independence in everyday life.

Physiotherapy for Children – Possible Therapy Contents

Our physiotherapy measures are designed to specifically promote your child's motor skills. This includes stretching and strengthening exercises to improve mobility and movement quality. Targeted movement training develops or corrects natural movement patterns. The therapy also supports balance and equilibrium skills, promotes posture control and helps to make walking safer and more efficient through gait training.

In addition, we use modern technologies such as TASES, NISE-Stim and Galileo to stimulate muscle activity, improve strength and stability and optimize movement patterns. Finally, orthopedic aspects are taken into account by individually evaluating the need for adaptive devices and orthopedic aids.

How do I choose the right intensive program? Talk to us!

Choosing the right therapy program can be challenging, but we're here to help! Our process begins with a comprehensive assessment that includes:

In addition to the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM), which was developed specifically for children with cerebral palsy (CP) and Down syndrome, we also use the Peabody-3 to holistically assess your child's motor skills. This allows us to track individual progress and create customized therapy plans for the best possible support.

Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM)

The GMFM is a standardized tool for assessing and tracking gross motor skills in children with cerebral palsy (CP) and Down syndrome. It helps professionals evaluate movement skills in areas such as lying, sitting, crawling, standing, and walking. Using the GMFM, we can document progress and develop targeted therapy plans to improve motor skills.

Peabody Developmental Motor Scales – Third Edition (PDMS-3)

The PDMS-3 is another proven instrument for assessing motor development in children. It records both gross and fine motor skills and enables targeted planning of individual support measures to support motor development.

Every child takes their own path in therapy. That's why we offer personal advice to determine the optimal intensive program. Together we discuss your child's strengths, challenges and goals in order to develop an individual and effective solution.

We support your child step by step

Our highly qualified and dedicated team of therapists works together in an interdisciplinary manner to achieve the best possible results. We integrate various therapy methods, including:

✅Neurosuit

✅Universal Exercise Unit (Spider Cage)

✅Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) Levels ABC

✅TASES (Task-Specific Electrical Stimulation.)

✅Nise-Stim (Neuromuscular Stimulation Therapy)

✅Sensophysio

✅Galileo

✅Bamboo Braces

✅TheraTogs

Our intensive therapy programs allow children to make more progress in 4 weeks than in several months of conventional therapy. For example, a child who has difficulty crawling may develop the coordination and strength to stand independently. Children who rely on a walker may be able to walk with crutches or even independently. We monitor progress and set targeted goals for steady development.

home program & aftercare

Therapy does not end with the completion of the intensive program! We offer a comprehensive home program that includes:

✅Individual exercise plans to maintain progress

✅Follow-ups and advice

✅Recommendations for adaptive aids

✅Access to personalized exercise programs online

✅Direct chat function with therapists for questions after therapy

✅Optional video conferences with therapists

We are convinced that families play a central role in the success of therapy and provide you with the necessary tools and knowledge to best support your child's development, step by step.
