Epicondylitis is an inflammatory irritation of the tendon attachments on the elbow. Medial epicondylitis affects the inside of the elbow, while lateral epicondylitis affects the outside. These conditions can be caused by repetitive strain or overuse of the forearm muscles. The symptoms are pain and limitations in arm function. Treatment includes rest, physical therapy, and anti-inflammatory measures. In some cases, special exercises and bandages can be helpful.
