Treatment for a hammertoe may include wearing shoes with enough room for the toes. Orthopedic insoles or splints can help correct the position of the toes. Physical therapy can provide exercises to strengthen foot muscles and improve mobility. In severe cases, surgery may be required to correct the deformity. An orthopedist or foot surgeon can discuss the best course of action.
